Mariano and Mariano, father and son, run a small bar in Santa Marta, a town in the outskirts of Salamanca, Spain. Bars have been a family business for decades, and a part of Spanish culture for over a century. For Spaniards, bars are a mix of taverns, cafés and, at times, restaurants.
In 2006, Mariano (senior) sold the family bar to make a move to the countryside as a horse caretaker, his true passion. "This sector kills you." Ten years and an accute economic crisis later, Mariano (junior) bought the bar back and gave it a new name.
